Status

The market, known as the Policy Analysis Market, or PAM, never got off the ground. Democrat politicians in the Senate uncovered the plan in July 2003 and it was dropped because of public outcry. Ron Wyden, the Democratic senator from Oregon, said that  "The idea of a federal betting parlour on atrocities and terrorism is ridiculous and it's grotesque."
